Changelog

A dated record of real changes to how we source, verify, and publish USDA farm-subsidy and income data, including corrections and methodology revisions. This list only carries changes we can point to; there is no entry for a day nothing meaningfully changed. See the editorial & corrections policy for how a specific page gets corrected.

  1. Corrections pathway published

Added this changelog and made the "report a data error" link on every entity, ranking, state, guide, and tools page open a pre-filled email naming the exact page, so a report always arrives with the context we need to check it.

  2. County pages: NASS and ERS attribution stamped, false identity removed

County, program, and state-detail pages now carry explicit NASS Census of Agriculture and USDA ERS source stamps beside the figures they back, and an implied editorial-team identity claim that did not reflect how the site is actually run was removed.

  3. County profile pages: pasture-led vs. crop-heavy classification, unpaired-value fix

County pages now classify each county's farm-economy mix (pasture-led vs. crop-heavy) instead of a generic ranking framing, and a signed government-payments figure that could render with a misleading sign is now shown as an absolute value with its direction stated in words.

  4. Rankings pages: removed incorrect source claims, added live concentration shares

The state rankings pages previously cited EWG and Census Bureau alongside USDA ERS for figures those sources do not publish; that citation was removed. Rankings now show ERS's current fiscal-year data with a live top-state-share and top-5-share breakdown computed from it.

  5. Guide pages: pastel "Key Takeaway" boxes replaced with a sourced verdict

The eight farm-program guide pages previously ended in a generic styled callout box. That box was replaced with a synthesis section stating the actual settled-year ratios and shares derived from ERS data on the page, with forecast years explicitly excluded from any settled-figure claim.

  6. Source citation added to hub and identity pages

The About, Methodology, and topic-hub pages gained an explicit, page-specific "cite this" citation of the USDA dataset they draw from, matching the citation already shown on entity and guide pages.
